Fashion Fridays: ooh la la lingerie

Coming from a fashion background I thought it was only fitting to dedicate a day of the week solely to fashion.  The good, bad, and the ugly...I'll try to stay in the good.

Lingerie is one of my favorite pieces of clothing.  It makes you feel sexy even though you're the only one who sees it.  When you get the shopping bug and don't have a lot of money to spend, forgo the dress and buy a beautiful bra or sexy undies.

Neat Napkins Treatments

A simple way to add wow to your table is by doing a napkin treatment. They can add texture and layer to your table.  It can be a simple ribbon tied around the napkin,  a floral stem laid across the each napkin, or a sprig of herbs.  Get creative!

Jet Setter: Big Sur

Sorry I haven't blogged lately.  I spent a few glorious days in magical Big Sur, California. Nature and romance at its best!  I had originally planned to get married in Big Sur, so it was appropriate for my husband and I to spend our 7 year wedding anniversary there.

Big Sur has some of the most breathtaking coastline vistas in the world.  It's the perfect place for a wedding, honeymoon or a romantic getaway.  From luxury resorts to rustic cabins, there is something for everyone.  Picnics at the beach, hiking through giant redwoods to spectacular waterfalls, then relaxing at a spa - all in one day!

The ultimate in luxury is the Post Ranch Inn.  The rooms, the restaurant, the spa...ahh, total bliss.  Ventana Inn is another amazing option.  It's also a great place to hold your wedding.

For a quaint cabin in the woods, budget-friendly Deetjen's Big Sur Inn is the place.  Deetjen's has one of the best restaurants in Big Sur.  But my favorite restaurant is the Big Sur Bakery, which has the best filet and is all organic!

Things to do in Big Sur:
1. Hiking in the Ventana Wilderness
2. Picnic at Pfeiffer State Beach
3. Soak in the hot tubs at Esalen.  Clothing optional.
4. Drink wine while watching the sunset at Nepenthe Restaurant (Wedding Spot)
5.  Visit the Henry Miller Library (Wedding Spot)

What to Wear:  The temperatures in Big Sur range from foggy mornings to sunny afternoons, so think layers.  One of my favorite lines is Nau.  "An outdoor apparel company turning out designs strong enough for the backwoods and stylish enough for the urban jungle".

April Showers...Bring an Umbrella

Rain or shine, it's always good to be prepared.  Parasols are great for all seasons, especially for the occasional Spring shower or keeping cool in Summer.

   Pamelas Parasols

Our green brides will love the new Organic Collection from Pamelas Parasols, along with her other collections, which include bejewled, feathers, and monograms.

Parasols are a great bouquet alternative for your bridesmaids.  They can also double as your bridesmaids' gifts.  Bella Umbrellas has a beautiful array of styles to choose from.

Green Wedding Book

New York Times Staff Writer Mireya Navarro released her book, "Green Wedding".
Green Wedding presents ideas for making any celebration, not just a wedding or commitment ceremony, more sustainable, at any budget.  Environmental responsibility isn't just a one-day affair, the book includes chapters on ecotourism honeymoons and on living green throughout married life.
